I understand what this list is for, and would like acknowledge my
appreciation for the time and effort everyone puts into it. My intention was
never to have someone take the SNMP v2 trap issue back to the programmers
and provide me with a fix. I know the proper channel to get that done. All I
was looking for was an acknowledgement that this is indeed a deficiency in
Netview, and not just something I am overlooking.
Cheers everyone,
Fawad

Indeed, perhaps there is a bug as you suggest.
But then a call to Support is in order, for that is how that determination
is made.
I am not being facetious.
You and Mr . Qureshi, who has posted here before but apparently is not
getting the answers he wishes, are welcome to get other user opinions if
you like, but bugs must be reported to Support through formal channels or
they will not be addressed. As it says at the bottom of every posting:
*NOTE*
This is not an Official Tivoli Support forum. If you need
immediate
assistance from Tivoli please call the IBM Tivoli Software Group
help line at 1-800-TIVOLI8(848-6548).
If you want someone at Tivoli to pursue an issue for you, then you must
open a formal problem to Support. I, and other IBM/Tivoli employees, are
allowed to volunteer answers here, but we do so unofficially. We are
specifically forbidden to take user problems and issues off this list. All
customer support issues must be tracked in the official fashion. That's
the way it works.
I sincerely hope this helps.

Reading Mr Qureshi's previous posts, it sounds as though he is having the
same difficulty that
I am (see previous post titled "trapd dropping last digit from
incoming..."). Perhaps there is a bug in the 7.1.2 version of trapd?

I don't understand what you don't understand. I suggest you call IBM
Support and get a definitive answer from them.

AIX 4.3.3 and Netview 7.1.1
I am still unclear on why is it that I am able to see a SNMP v2 trap come
in
to a generic SNMP Manager in the proper format with all the expected
information, while I am unable to get that in Netview? I have SNMP v2
traps
from various vendors (Veritas, CypherOptics, etc.) that I am not receiving
with all pertinent information. What am I missing here?
Thanks.
Cheers,
Fawad Qureshi
