What you have heard is a guideline. It is not an architectural
requirement. Many customers want to start out with everything
in the entire Tivoli universe in one box for proof-of-concept
purposes, and they often keep that sort of arrangement for
testing and development and it works. But it gets tight quickly.
It all depends on sizing. Is the database on that box, or
elsewhere? What is your rate of events? How much rule
processing? What are its uptime requirements relative to
anything else you might put on with it? Sizing a TEC box is
a judgement call, and those with the experience that allows
them to make that judgement advise putting it by itself because
if you really make good use of TEC, eventually it will grow
to where it needs to be by itself. Maybe not today, but
eventually.

requirements
AM
Can I get some feedback on requirements for TEC running under AIX. I have
been told, and read that it requires to be installed stand-alone with no
other applications running on that server. Is this true, and if so, why?
Thank you,
