NetView 7.1.3 AIX 4.3.3

I have a question about the interface physical address.

How does NetView use this field?

We have a NT node that provides DNS services. The box has a shadow interface that is basically a virtual interface. NetView “sees” this as 2 nodes, not one with 2 interfaces. Each interface has its own DNS entry, and its own SNMP agent. One agent is Microsoft for the real IP address, and the other agent is from the DNS software manufacturer. The commonality is the physical address on the 2 nodes in its interface list. Does NetView not care about 2 nodes with the same physical address?

Thanks,
