Switch Analyzer provides quite a bit of correlation that assists in
determining root cause for events from Layer 2 and Layer 3. You could
probably configure CiscoWorks/NetView to provide you with similar
correlation, but you will have to customize most of it yourself.
Additionally, CiscoWorks 2000 does integrate with NetView as long as it
is not on AIX 5.1 (as of today). In talking with Cisco, they don't plan
on updating this product until the end of the year.

We were discussing the same thing here, (incorporating Switch Analyzer)
but have yet to see a price tag on it. However, we have Cisco Works
2000 and I understand that Netview can integrate with it. Doing this
integration, does anyone know if it would do anything similar to what
Switch Analyzer would do?

You are right, the price it is QUITE STUNNING. They were here at
Princeton U.
as sales pitch. The basic price wasn't too bad but the cost per switch
port
was insane considering we have thousands of ports.

We just couldn't understand how an add on to Netview would cost more
than twice its' cost, not to mention the maintenance costs on it.

We just told them "Thanks for coming" and showed them where the door was
at.
