Have you checked out hte nvmaputil utility that is new in 7.1.3? 

See appendix B and the --delete option and see if that works for you.
Here are the 7.1.3 Release notes where the new command is documented:

I'm not entirely familiar with it myself, but maybe someone can
indicate whether this option also removes the object from the object
database in addition to lopping it off maps.
