A few days? You mean one continuous connection you're leaving up for
days on end? If so, you're expecting too much out of a remote
x-windows connection. They're kinda touchy and chatty, and prone to
problems like this.

VNC is a much better choice for such a connection. VNC feature
reconnectable sessions. You set a password on the AIX box with
vncpasswd, then fire up "vncserver :20" on the AIX box, the get on
your windows machine and point The vnclient.exe program at the IP of
your AIX box followed by a :20 and voila.

You can kill the client, and reconnect again from any other machine,
and pick up exactly where you left off. Or if the client dies, no
problem, just reconnect and pick up where you left off. At worst you
need to check "request shared session" in options if vnc still thinks
the dead client is connected.

We used to use this at a former employer for running very long
simulation jobs with a GUI, and if the X session got interrupted at
all for any network glitch, you'd lose the simulation, the results, or
any ability to control the program.

This is a tricky issue. They're guessing...but then again, that's the
nature of pesky intermittent problems. We're all guessing.

I'd dump Exceed and start using VNC. I have an exceed license and
haven't had occasion to use it for the 2 years since I started using
VNC.

But, more to your question...how are you connecting specifically to
the AIX box with exceed. Using rexec? Or telnet? SSH?
