That is not a simple procedure. First, I recommend that you obtain a copy of the Event Adapters Guide from your TEC people. The NetView for Windows TEC adapter is a clone of the OpenView (UNIX) adapter shipped with TEC itself. Then you are going to have to modify the tecad_nv6k files in \usr\ov\conf. You'll need to modify the OID file, so that the adapter knows what trap OID to look for, the CDS file so that he knows how you want to format it, , and the CONF file so that the event as defined in the CDS is sent to TEC. The Guide will explain all these files and what they are used for, and what the various fields mean. But basically you are going to copy exiting entries in that file for Cisco or Cabletron Events and modify them for your new one(s). You will also want to stop and restart the adapter daemon you are using when done. James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group
I'm running NV on windows 2000 SP4. I'm receiving traps from an EMS unit. Loaded the mib. Yes. Run mib2trap. Yes Run the batch file produced so that the addtraps update trapd.conf. Yes. Handed over a baroc file to the Tivoli Tec administrator. Yes. However only traps that were previously known are being forwarded by the non-tmr tec adapter. So how do I persuade the traps to go to the Tec? John Gatrell, B.A. Physics, CCNA RMSC - IBM UK's Remote Managed Services Centre Tel: 0870-010-6284 Internal 814732 |
