Don't assume that. NetView for Windows and NetView for UNIX share less than 50 per cent of their code. They are two entirely separate products. While there are rulesets on Windows, they have nothing to do with sending events to TEC. The event flow is entirely different. The internal TEC adapter on UNIX is part of the nvserverd daemon, and he does not exist on Windows. That's why another daemon is needed and the development group which did NetView for Windows decided to port the tecad adapter shipped with TEC rather than invent their own. Edited the ruleset? Restart trapd if it's a new enterprise. I'm on Unix, but assume it's similar. I'm receiving traps from an EMS unit. Loaded the mib. Yes. Run mib2trap. Yes Run the batch file produced so that the addtraps update trapd.conf. Yes. Handed over a baroc file to the Tivoli Tec administrator. Yes. However only traps that were previously known are being forwarded by the non-tmr tec adapter. So how do I persuade the traps to go to the Tec? John Gatrell, B.A. Physics, CCNA RMSC - IBM UK's Remote Managed Services Centre Tel: 0870-010-6284 Internal 814732 |
