FYI: IP Address ranges (ie, 10.10.10.1-2) do NOT work with filters. Implied wildcard and specific IP Addresses do work! -Milt Milton W. All I can do is try :-) I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the advice. -Milt Milton W. Bridges III Network Automation Systems Programmer Kaiser Permanente IT National Operations Enterprise Automation Services, Design and Engineering (909)739-5339 8-395-5339
Why not just try it? Or did you already? As you noted before, this is not supported by the GUI, but then neither are wildcards. I'm afraid I don't have time to do it myself, nor spend the afternoon looking thru the code trying to determine whether it is fully supported or not, but I can tell you that I have seen customer filter files with entries in them like this: RuleContent=!((CLASS=1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.3 && ((SNMP_SPECIFIC=1001) || (SNMP_SPECIFIC=1002) || (SNMP_SPECIFIC=1003) || (SNMP_SPECIFIC=1004) || (SNMP_SPECIFIC=58916871)))) && !((IP_ADDR=22.[0-9].15[0-2].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9][0-9].15[0-2].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9][0-9][0-9].15[0-2].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9].5[0-4].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9][0-9].5[0-4].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9][0-9][0-9].5[0-4].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9].5[6-9].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9][0-9].5[6-9].*) || (IP_ADDR=22.[0-9][0-9][0-9].5[6-9].*)) Whether this works well or not, that I cannot tell you. But you ought to be able to come up with a simpler test case. James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group
I'm trying to filter by specific ranges, and not wildcard networks. This is due to our networks being split by location, and I would like to create filter accordingly. Is that possible?
