No. A device will never be added to the map by just ping. You would also need an active SNMP agent on the box and be able to do an snmpwalk of the device from the NetView box. If you have that, and then you do a ping, and netmon is active, then perhaps it will be added to the database and the map. Barring any other things that would preclude a device from being added to the map. If I ping a device fromt he NetView box should it add that device to the database and therefore the map? Just curious. TIA |
