Could this be related to the phenomenon where nodes sometimes show up in the Smartset (on the server) without the bitmap, while the node in the ipmap topology does have the bitmap? This occurrs because the smartset picks up the newly discovered node before ipmap is through with it, and does not revisit the symbol. The workaround is to delete the icon for the smartset itself, on the server. I immediately reappears. When you open it, it is repopulated with the current symbols in use by ipmap. When you are comparing the java client with the server console, make sure you are comparing the same topologies - ipmap vs smartset. Cordially, Leslie A. Happy new year ! I am using Netview 7.1.4 on AIX 5.1 I am seeing a difference in the way icons are represented between the native console and the Java console. I have a smartset with more than 10 devices. All the devices support snmp and have the same oid. I see that all the devices have the proper icon on the native console. However on the Java console a few of the objects have empty icon. I checked that the oid_to_sym is properly configured. Also if I delete an object with an empty icon, it comes back with still an empty icon in the Java console. If I delete an object with the proper bitmap in the Java console, it comes back with an empty icon in the Java console. It still has the proper bitmap in the native console. Any idea what could be wrong ? Thanks, Salutations, / Regards, Francois Le Hir Network Projects & Consulting Services IBM Global Services Phone: (514) 205 6695 |
