I trawl'd through some of the archives, some discussions on MLM's have
been made here, however none with trully informational nor adequet
answers have been gievn I guess. reading through the MLM readme on
the Netview Server for Windows 7.1.4 CD, I found some of the
limitations on the NT MLM that prevent us from using it.
Particularily on the MLM not being able to correctly populate IP
addresses withzero's (0) in them (192.168.0.1). This alone means that
we are incapable of using it. As far as the Web Console for the GUI
our toruble withl the Web Console is that every time we natively need
to run the GUI we end up shutting down all those people attached tot
he web console. The fix of having to re-open a submap everytime is
not sufficent for us.
In the end if the MLM is to be done it will need to be done with
Unix-to-Unix.

Couldn't agree more with James's comments! Whether you have a remote
stand-alone NetView or an Attended MLM, there is no fundamental sharing
of NetView databases - the Attended MLM is basically a stand-alone
NetView that forwards TRAPs to a manager-of -managers NetView using an
under-the-covers MLM. Your issue comes with usability as so many
details are different between the Windows and Unix NetView
implementations. If the folk using the Attended MLM really need a GUI,
is the Web Console from your M-o-M NetView adequate?
