I think you misunderstand about how netmon works. What he discovers is controlled by the seed file and the global options. location.conf just tells him, where to put things that have already been discovered. Since location.conf is static, the only thing you can do is stop discovery once you are satisfied with it, otherwise you will have to continue to update location.conf when new devices are added and generate a new map. You can restrict discover to just what is in the seed file by putting an invalid range in it as the last item, such as 3.3.3.* If this is Windows, then you can control the discovery options from nvsetup.exe James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group
Hi all, I want Netview map to have only icons which are defined in the location.conf file. Not all devices which are auto discovered by Netview using netmon.seed file. I created new map by changing location.conf file, still Netview is putting all devices which are auto discovered by it. Can somebody help me. Thanks.
