I don't know about your demandpoll problem.
 I'm finding the description confusing.  But you did not mention
whether you have FixPack1 for 7.1.4 installed or not.  If not, you
need to get it, then if the problem persists, I'd call Support.

As for zooming, try this.
Edit /usr/OV/bin/netview   and
take out the reference to  /usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5 near the end.  AIX
has messed up the R5 library it is shipping with AIX 5.2, and inconsistent
behavior is one of the symptoms.
So where the script now says

export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/lib

comment that out and make it say this


#export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/lib

export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/lib

and see if that helps.
