I've had the FixPack1 for 7.1.4. (downloaded from the site of IBM) installed
before sending the first problem description to the list. I saw no
difference before and after the fixpack installation, as far as my problems
concern.

I changed the LIBPATH variable as you suggested but i still have zooming
problems. Zoom may works a few times but under no specified circumstances. I
may works one time (with the same parameters, i just start the GUI) and work
again after 20 attempts or more.

I would appreciate your advanced help,

I don't know about your demandpoll problem.  I'm finding the description
confusing.  But you did not mention whether you have FixPack1 for 7.1.4
installed or not.  If not, you need to get it, then if the problem persists,
I'd call Support.

As for zooming, try this.
Edit /usr/OV/bin/netview   and take out the reference to
/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5 near the end.  AIX has messed up the R5 library it is
shipping with AIX 5.2, and inconsistent behavior is one of the symptoms.
So where the script now says

export
LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/li
b

comment that out and make it say this

#export
LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R5:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/li
b
export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/lib

and see if that helps.
