Catalina,
I should mention that these devices are Aironet which was bought by Cisco. Enterprise used in the SmartSet collection is 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.525. (See the latest Cisco Products MIB file.)

So my previous note about data collection may not apply to your Cisco access points.

Sorry if I confused you.

Hello Catalina,

We are using NV to gather signal quality and signal strength for access point clients. Then we upload the results with NetView snmpColDump and Oracle sqlldr into Oracle tables where we can run Oracle functions such as average, min, max, and standard deviation of the signal strength and signal quality.

Here are the entries from the snmpCol.conf file .....

MIB .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.273.1.3.1.1.3 cDot112ClientSignalStrength units INTEGER R
O CISCO_RCI_Access_Points 600 70.000000 40.000000 xA s 58720263 ALL -
MIB .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.273.1.3.1.1.4 cDot112ClientSigQuality units INTEGER R
O CISCO_RCI_Access_Points 600 70.000000 40.000000 xA s 58720263 ALL -

Does that answer your question?

Subject: [nv-l] Monitoring Access Points

Hello List,

I cant find  the answer in archive so I am not sure if anyone has encountered this.

Can Netview monitor the radio side of an access point?

In particular AIX 5.2 Netview 7.1.4 Cisco 1210 Access Points.

We are monitoring  BVI side but we also need to know if the radio goes does. Any ideas?

Is this a Cisco TAC or Tivoli Tech question? I haven’t open a ticket with either one just wanting to know

Thanks, Catalina
