A manual install via ftp to transfer files and then running scripts as root on the target box is possible, but I do not believe that it is documented. It's also rather complicated.

Most shops prohibit rexec because they don't want you logging in as root remotely. But you are going to have to be root on the target box for the installation to work, so the issue is actually moot. Since there is little difference between rexec and letting you telnet in as root, I suggest you ask your folks for an exemption for the rexec prohibition only long enough to get the software installed.

If that's not feasible, then I suggest a call to IBM Support in the hopes that they can get you a procedure.

[nv-l] Trapgend installation?

Is there a way, to install trapgend outside of the prescribed methods of Tivoli Desktop or nv6000_smit method? Our security requirements prohibit the use of rexec which I believe both of these methods utilize. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
