Hi List.

Finally, We can integrated CiscoWork with Netview on AIX 5.2, following the
advice given for you!!!

The procedure we followed is this:

1) Install CiscoWork Integration in Netview on AIX 5.1.
2) Install Netview Server on AIX 5.2
2) Copy some configuration files such as oid_to_type, oid_to_sym, files in
/usr/OV/fields, /usr/OV/symbols, /usr/OV/snmp_mibs, usr/OV/registrations,
/usr/OV/conf and etc...etc..
3) Copy the folder created in the installation of CiscoWork Utility, by
default is /usr/CSCOpx
4) Execute the nmic.sh script over /usr/CSCOpx/bin ---> You are going to
see a warning message like (Error: Wrong version of
/opt/CSCOpx/lib/jre2/sh/../bin/java for this version of AIX) This is the
issue for the version of AIX..but ignore it and continue with the
process...
Finally restart the daemons... later, you can see the new option in the
menu and all the functionalities of Cisco Work Integration.

Thanks very much...

Saludos,
Anabella GD.

Hi Anabella,
Unix is not my speciality - I just about "get by". However, if you have a
tame Unix guru (or you are one yourself) you might be able to get the
installation to run. I changed a section which I found which appeared to be
doing the AIX version check. The installation ran a little further and then
failed again!
One problem with this is that, even if you get it to work, it almost
certainly won't be supported.
You could manually copy the MIB files, oid_to_type, oid_to_sym, etc, etc,
from the 5.1 system, but it's a lot of work and extremely difficult not to
miss something. Perhaps if anyone's done this successfully and documented
exactly what they did they could let us know.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be for all of us affected by this to
apply some pressure on Cisco in the hope they might provide a version that
runs on AIX 5.2 and 5.3. If nobody moans they probably think there's no
demand.
Gook luck.
Rob.

Hi Rob.

Thanks very much...

It is really bad that situation, because we need to migrate the Netview
Server from AIX 5.1 to AIX 5.2 and we are not able to do that, and this is
critical for us...
I don't know, if we can do something to force the installation and obtain
the benefits of integrated Netview and CiscoWork......can you give me some
idea about that..!!...

I really appreciate any suggestion....

Thanks again...

Saludos,
Anabella

Anabella,
The latest available version of Ciscoworks Integration Utility, which is
the
version you are using, does not support AIX 5.2. It's for AIX 5.1 only.
Cisco do not seem very keen to keep up-to-date with AIX releases as it
feels
it has too few customers using NetView for AIX to make it worth their
while.
It's a real shame for those of us in this situation (again!).
Best Regards,
Rob Brinkworth.
