Usman,
There are many parts of the NetView product I don't have experience with,
and this is one.
If no one else responds, then please contact IBM Support and get someone
who has experience to help you.

Hello Kelly,

I am sorry but there are no built-in NetView commands to provide the
information you seek.

With regard to routers, NetView has an isRouter field on objects in his
data base. You can print the entire object database with the ovobjprint
command --- just redirect it to a file "ovobjprint >
my.object.database.txt" and then you can massage it any way you like. Or
you can use nvdbformat to create a report. See the man page on nvdbformat
if you are UNIX; the Programmer's Reference on Windows.

With regard to servers, NetView does not identify servers by default. It
does provide the servmon daemon to monitor certain types of servers. but
you have to configure that. If you have done so, then it will create
smartsets for those servers it monitors. You can use "nvUtil L" to get a
list of smartsets on UNIX; "smartsetutil L" on Windows. If any in that
list are groups of your servers, then you can issue s"nvUtil l
<smartset_name>" to get a list of members; substituting smartsetutil on
Windows. Once again nvdbformat can be used to put this information into a
report.

As for locations, the word "location" is a technical term in NetView.
Technically it refers to a "container" or grouping of objects on the map by
IP Address. Is that what you meant by "location", or did you mean the
colloquial sense of term, "everything in one physical place"? NetView has
no means of keeping track of the latter by default, unless your devices are
configured to return some specific value for the sysLocation SNMP filed.
If they are, then ovobjprint of nvdbformat will help. If not, then you are
out of luck. Even if you meant the term in the technical NetView sense,
you'd still have to get the objects from that location container, which is
a bit tricky using those tools.

I need to find out how many routers and servers Netview manages. What is
the command?

I also need a report on what Netview is managing in a specific location.
What is the command to get this information?
