I just put the Routers IP Address in the Seed file with '$' now when the trap comes-in i can see the status change on the IP MAP.

Hi Leslie,

I found this in the "netmon.conf" file

# Set to TRUE to ignore Link Up/Link Down traps

NV_NETMON_IGNORE_LINK_UPDN=FALSE

The second line was remarked i removed the remark, did start/stop netmon , but yet i dont see the change on IP MAP for the specific interface!

Check in /usr/ov/conf/netmon.conf. On Unix, there is an option in there that controls whether or not Netview will respond to generic traps by immediately checking the current status. Perhaps that's where it is controlled on Windows as well.

And no, no mibs are required for this.

Just to add to it, do we need to load any specific MIBs to get that functionality?

[nv-l] Propagating Node status on TRAPS

Hi List,

NV 7.1.4 FP04

Windows 2003 SP1

We have a Cisco router configured to forward traps to Netview server whenever the Serial Link goes down! . The Netview is receiving traps successfully but on the IP MAP the Interface status  does not reflect the TRAP i.e When a 'link down' trap is received on Netview the Interface status stays 'GREEN'. It is only updated on the scheduled SNMP Poll. What else needs to be done on the Netview part to make it reflect the change on the 'IP MAP' level!
