I've been reminded to remind you all that copying the Smartset icon to a location submap is not recommended or supported by Tivoli Support. I'm just passing along an idea that was posted here some time ago by a customer who tried it and thought it worked for him. Take a backup, and if it does not work, don't call Support. I am saying that if you use a scope to restrict a web user, you may specify location submaps and you may specify network submaps. You can see that in the dialog where you defined the scope. There is no option on that screen to specify Smartsets, therefore you may not specify Smartset submaps. This is not something to be fixed. This is how the product works. Of course it is obvious to us all that it was an oversight on the part of the developers, and we would like it to work that way, but it does not. You might try the suggestion I described below, which involves copying a Smartset icon into a Location submap and specifying that Location in the scope. It is not a supported solution, but I hear it works, Cordially, Leslie A. Are u saying that we cannot have smartsets visible on Web Console if we are using "Locations" instead of "Networks" in Scope Restriction???? How do i fix it?
Smartsets are not an option when defining the scope for a web client user. The only options you were given were Locations and Networks. I have heard some people report that they have made Locations and copied Smartsets into them, and that worked. I have not tried this, and I believe that if it works, it is an accident, but that is what they say. Cordially, Leslie A. Hi, NV 7.1.4 FP04 Windows 2003 Std SP1 I've customized Netview map with a few locations using the location.conf file. Created users and assigned scopes based upon those locations. We also have a few Smarsets created , but when the user logs in to the web Console he cannot see the Smarsets that even fall in their respective scopes, have i missed any thing? do we have to separately assign access to Smarsets for Web Console users??? Urgent help is requested! Thanks in advance.. Regards, Usman Si3. |
