May be this will help.
There are no structural differences in trapd.conf between 7.1.3 and 7.1.4, only
in content. So yes, if you just want to drop down your 7.1.3 file on a 7.1.4
system you can do that.
The only trapd.conf file which trapd loads on an English-language NetView is
the one in /usr/OV/conf/C.
There is a very old trapd.conf, much smaller than the one in the C directory,
which is a holdover for the migration process from NetView Version 2 to NetView
Version 3 when the product was internationalized. It should have been removed
years ago but never was. You can delete it.
When NetView is installed an unmodified copy of trapd.conf for that version is
installed in /usr/OV/newconfig/OVSNMP-RUN/trapd.conf
So the process we have been suggesting is.
(1) Shut down trapd (you might as well stop all the daemons) on your 7.1.4
system and put your 7.1.3 trapd.conf in /usr/OV/conf/C
(2) nvaddtrapdconf /usr/OV/newconfig/OVSNMP-RUN/trapd.conf
(3) diff -w /usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf
/usr/OV/newconfig/OVSNMP-RUN/trapd.conf > trapd.diff.out
(4) The trapd.diff.out will tell you which lines are different in the two
files and you can make whatever additional changes you want to bring your new
trapd.conf up to speed with 7.1.4.
(5) Restart the daemons ( use /etc/netnmrc if you stop nvsecd)

Not sure i understand clearly,
Can i only replace the the NV 7.1.4 trapd.conf file (on server X) by the NV
7.1.3 trapd.conf file (on server Y) ?
If yes, which trapd.conf file ? The one in /usr/OV/conf/C ?

You can shorten this process a bit by making the 7.1.3 trapd.conf your current
one, and then using
nvaddtrapdconf /usr/OV/newconfig/OVSNMP-RUN/trapd.conf
nvaddtrapdconf will not alter existing entries but it will add in any that are
completely new.
Then you can follow Bill's procedure to merge in your differences.

I had that problem last year. I ran DIFF against the current 7.1.3
/usr/OV/conf/C/trapd.conf and the one in
/usr/OV/newconfig/OVSNMP-RUN/trapd.conf to identify the differences.
>From there it was a manual effort to merge the changes into the new
7.1.4 file.
