Thread-topic: [NV-L] NetView 7.1.5 Upgrade Issues

Hi there,

Now I tried the normal installation without upgrade option, but returned with the same error. When I check the process nettl, I can see the output as this…

root      5357     1  0 22:37 ?        00:00:00 /usr/OV/bin/ntl_reader 0 1 1 1 1000 /usr/OV/log/nettl

root      5359  5357  0 22:37 ?        00:00:00 netfmt –CF

This output looks something normal. Any more clue for me to dig into?

Thanks in advance

Praveen

I don't work on installation, per se, but I can tell you that yours failed during the customizing step because ovwdb would not start. The last message that ovwdb wrote to stdout was "Unable to initialize tracing/logging subsystem", which means that he tried to open his connection to the nettl subsystem, and it failed. So that's what's going on, but I haven't a clue what to do about it, since I don't work on nettl or ovwdb either.

If you can figure out what to do about this, then your installation would probably proceed, but that's all I can tell you. None of this is in my area.

That's why opening a problem to support is your best bet.

You are going to have to call Support and open a problem.

[NV-L] NetView 7.1.5 Upgrade Issues

Hi there,

Currently I have NetView 7.1.4 running on RedHat Linux ES 3.0.

Now I am in the process of upgrading NetView 7.1.4 to NetView 7.1.5. To carry out the same I have taken selective backup of current NetView setup, Upgraded the OS from RedHat ES 3.0 to RedHat ES 4.0, and then I copied the backup folder “OV.back.v7r1” under /usr.

Finally, I have executed the command,

./instalnv -k SERVER -u

After some progress, I am returned with an error as pasted down. Did anyone come across with this problem? Would anyone help me in resolving the same?
