Thread-topic: [NV-L] nvserverd exited on signal

I had the same issue. The PMR I opened led to the following fix for us.

DCF Document ID: 1253391 - IBM Tivoli NetView: IY93335 NVSERVERD DIES WITH SIGNAL 6 AFTER APPLYING FP05
Problem Desc: On AIX, when TEC forwarding is enabled, after applying NV714 FP05, nvserverd dies with signal 6 immediately. After disabling the StateCorrelationEngine of nvserverd it comes up again.

Solution: (1) Add /usr/OV/jre/bin/classic in LIBPATH statement in /usr/OV/conf/NVenvironment file.
(2) Also add following two statements in /usr/OV/conf/NVenvironment file.
LDR_CNTRL=USERREGS
export LDR_CNTRL
For example, change the line which reads
export LIBPATH=/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/lib
to
export LIBPATH=/usr/OV/jre/bin/classic:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6:/usr/lpp/X11/lib/R6/Motif2.1:$LIBPATH:/usr/OV/lib
LDR_CNTRL=USERREGS
export LDR_CNTRL
(3) Save the file.
(4) Stop the daemons (ovstop nvsecd) then restart daemons using /etc/netnmrc.

Subject: [NV-L] nvserverd exited on signal

Hello list-

Environment: Netview 7.1.5 Solaris 9

I am getting a strange error on my test and production boxes both running new installs of NV715. This is not an upgrade install. I have:
stopped the daemons via ovstop
stopped nvsecd
done a /etc/init.d/netnmrc stop
All the following commands run as root
then tried to restart with ovstart and netnmrc start and netview,  netview -dconsole.
The /usr/OV/tmp/netnmrc.ovstart was no help either.

server1 # netview -dconsole

portmap is already running
Starting IBM Tivoli NetView daemons :
WARNING: Daemon startup error.  See /usr/OV/tmp/netnmrc.ovstart

ERROR: The following REQUIRED daemons are not running:
  nvserverd
As root user, start all the daemons by using one of the following methods:
         a) use the smit (ServerSetup) utility
         b) issue the command:  /usr/OV/bin/ovstart
         c) rerun this command

Thanks for any insight!!
