Netview can only collect or display what the device is able to report. So I suspect there is some confusion over the interface index number that you are looking for. Perhaps some people are talking about port numbers, which do not always map to ifIndex numbers, or slot/port designations. Here are some tips to help clarify what is possible. The 'Monitor...Network Configuration->Addresses' function is the same as 'rnetstat -Ix nodename'. That command only shows entries for interfaces that have IP addresses. The index number in that display is supposed to map to the ifIndex field in the Interfaces table. Usually it does, at least on Cisco stuff. The 'Monitor..Network Configuration->Interfaces' function is the same as 'rnetstat -ix nodename'. That command shows all entries in the Interface table, regardless of whether they have IP addresses or not. (Netview does not draw objects for un-numbered interfaces except in the case of serial links) In the MIB Browser where you tried to retrieve locIfInCRC, try specifying 19 in the MIB Instance window and then doing the Start Query. This would rule out the possibility that the snmpwalk is failing at a certain point. You can run those commands at the commandline if you like. Use the interface description field to compare things. If the device does not report an ifIndex of 19 in these reports, then either it does not exist, or the agent on the device is in error. Also, with Cisco equipment, the ifIndex number is not always stable. They can be reassigned after a power-on. Cordially, Leslie A. Hi, The interface no of a router for which i need CRC Error data is 19, the interface no got from Monitor-->Tools-->Network Configuration-->Address, when i start querying the same router from MIB Browser traversing through the MIB Structure .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.12 for locIfInCRC, i can able to see till 16 Instance only. How do i obtain CRC errors data for this Interface. i have even mentioned this router IP in the Tool-->Data Collection & Thershold -->locIfInCRC (MIB Object Collection Summary) specified the option ALL Instance. Please advice me on this. Thanks & Regards SanthanaKrishnan.J

for this information directly. If they don't provide it, then there is
nothing NetView can do. If they do provide it, then I suggest a verbose
trace of snmpCollect is in order to see what happens when those devices
are queried by him.
Hi, Hi iam using AIX 5L server for Netview v7.1.4.4, DB is Oracle 9i, For certain devices iam not getting CRC Error data, even though i have included those IP address in the Data Collection and Threshold option.
