There is no way to forward a filtered set of traps, unless you write your
own application to do that. But you can have the raw traps sent.

Forwarding is accomplished by trapd. "man trapd" will explain your
options. Basically, you can have trapd forward all traps (-M) or just
those you have configured that way using Event Configuration (-m).

You change the options on trapd by re-registering the daemon, either by
changing the lrf file and then using ovdelobj/ovaddobj; or by using the GUI
from the Tivoli Framework. Locate the icon for the box with NetView on it,
right-click that icon, and select "Configure". The work your way down
through the menus till you get to the options for trapd. Since you are not
talking to another NetView, you must forward the traps themselves and not
the events.

Hi everyone,
I have NV version 5 running on AIX, and want to send every events that
are displayed in the Control Desk window when the TME 10 NetView program is
started (It displays all events that are filtered for display), and send
those to another box ("INM" for Nortel, another monitoring program similar
to NetView).

Like NetView, INM provides SNMP management of the network, therefore
if I could send my real-time events (every thing in /usr/OV/log/trapd.log)
to the INM box (via SNMP or whatever), It would probably be able to receive
those events (traps) and display them.

My question is :

1) What would be the procedures to implement this ?

(i.e. how do I send my traps to the another box (that is not NetView))

Regards
Moe
