I think it means that it is highlighted. To switch highlight off, select
View, Highlights, Undo Highlights from Netview menu bar.

What does it mean when you have a device that is managed, responding to
pings and demand polls i.e. is Green, but has a light gray/white connection
to its star or bus on the map. Normal connectivity is black.
