The Netview manuals for Unix did not change from 5.0 to 5.1 except for the
addition of the TIPN manual. The key document is the Release Notes. These
I found to be much improved for 5.1 over the 5.0 version. I can only speak
for
AIX, though. I have done half a dozen of the 3.6/5.1 installs on various
levels
of AIX and found them to be pretty straightforward. I don't believe there
have
been any updates to the doc.

You should check the Tivoli customer support web site for Frequently Asked
Questions. This is at www.support.tivoli.com, and you should register if
you
have not already done so. You get good electronic support from Tivoli there
as well.

To clean off your old install, if you are not up for re-installing the
operating
system (my preference), use the Netview function to de-install that
product.
To remove the Tivoli Framework, you can blow away everything under your
tivoli directory (whatever you called it), /etc/Tivoli, the install
directory (probably
/usr/local/Tivoli/install_dir), the entry in /etc/rc.nfs, and maybe check
/etc/inittab.
I think that is all there is. It is not smit installp, so it is not in the
ODM or anything.

Did I forget anything, anybody?

You might want to figure out how to search the archives of this listserver
with
words like 'install' for clues about common mis-steps. There has been a
lot
of good coaching here over the last couple of months.

I am about ready to read the docy and install the latest release of TME
(only the part required for Netview) and Netview on both AIX and Solaris.
I
had a lot of trouble with the installation before because of incomplete
documentation and numerous documentation errors. Is there any "addendum"
or
update to the installation process for Tivoli Framework 3.6 and netview
5.1?
The date on the framework planning and installation guide is Sept 1998 as
is
the date on the release notes. The only docy I have on netview is TME10
Netview v5r1 for Unix dated Sept 1998 (supercedes the ones on the CD). I
have received no other docy on Netview. Is there any new docy on 5.1, or
are the 5.0 manuals still applicable?

I want to erase my previous installation of tme and netview and reinstall
from scratch. Is there an easy way to get completely rid of the old
installation of tme framework and netview?

I want to make sure I have everything this time before I install the latest
version. Sincce it has been out for a while, I am hoping there is an
update
on the installation documentation that gives the latest and greatest info.

Thanks
