Well, the short answer is that you can't, but you can add the IP address to
the interface down trap by adding $4 to the Event message.
Your multi-homed host with a unique name in DNS for each interface does
not look that way to NetView. It appears as a host with three interfaces.
The hostname is the primary or first discovered interface. The other two
have no identity of their own, save for the name they have in the ifDesc
table (such as tr0, le0, and so on). Take a look at the router object in
NetView : ovobjprint -s <selection_name> or use the context menu by
right-clicking on the icon on the map. You will see the additional
interfaces listed under the TopM interface list and the names they will
have in the Interface down trap. The standard event message is $3 or just
"<interface_name Interface down". But $4 contains the IP address, the
timestamp, and the object ids of the interface and the router it is on. So
you could expand that message by adding $4, but that's about it.
Your only other option I can think of is to do the sort of thing some
people do when they get a trap that doesn't contain what they want, which
is to suppress that one and issue a new one via a ruleset using snmptrap.

Hello,
We are currently running NV V4.1 on AIX V4.2.1. We have several Sun
servers
that have multiple nics, each on a different IP subnet and each with a
unique name in dns. My question is how to get NetView to generate unique
names in NetView's trapd.log netmon for a multi-homed host that has 3
unique
names in dns. We want to be able to identify which interface has executed
a
status change by the netmon event, not requiring further action to
identify.
