Hi Jennifer,

If you are able to use and interested in using a Win32 package for
learning/experimenting purposes in this matter, you are welcome to
download our Auto*Manage toolset from:
www.winsnmp.com/demos/automanage.exe
The interface utilization monitor (np_busy.exe) and the real-time
charting utility (np_chart.exe) might be particularly helpful in
learning about/playing around with traffic monitoring parameters.
Auto*Manage is (obviously) much less feature-rich than a product
like NetView (and somewhat more generic than MRTG), so you
certainly cannot do all the production quality things with it
that you need to do effectively monitor and manage a network
of any size...but many people have found it beneficial for
basic SNMP management tutorial purposes and routine small-scale
management tasks.
Good luck,
BobN
