Yes, I seem to have quite a few of them, too.

The customer I am working with this week has some untidiness it his DNS as
well as some duplicate
IP addresses as a result of some migration and testing. As a result I am
seeing a couple if interfaces
that get added and deleted over and over, and lines that keep flipping
around. They have defined
the same address to DNS twice and configured it on two different boxes.
This is compounded by the
fact that they have configured DNS to return round-robin results to
queries. AND.. they have unique
names in DNS for every interface. I am not worrying about these interfaces
until they clean that all up.
Fortunately there are not a lot of routers here.

They have to carefully establish the real identity of the boxes they are
reaching via each
address, and then set up /etc/host to override DNS for all questionable
interfaces, so that all
addresses for a box resolve to the same name, and the name always resolves
to the same address.
I use rnetstat -I against an address to get input to the hosts file.

rnetstat -I xx.xx.xx.xx | awk '{print $2 " " hostname}' | sort >
hostname.addr

To distiguish between two real boxes, I use snmpwalk xx.xx.xx.xx system,
and carefully check the
sysuptime and other fields.

Anyway, I thought something like this might be the cause of other people's
disappearing interfaces.

Cordially,

Massimo - do you remember what patch you used? Is this the patch -
IX84533 - Disappearing of admin interfaces when status changes.

If anyone else can help - we are looking for the patch to fix our
problem. The problem we're having is that two of our interfaces are not
displayed even though they are on the network. They appear NetView on
the box where NetView is installed, but if view NetView through any
other box, they are invisible.

Thanks,
Jennifer
