cisco addtrap script

Hello ,
I am using netview 5.1.
I have a cisco script to add all cisco traps to netview version 3 and 4
which I downloaded from the cisco site.I have made it executable but gives a
syntax error when I run it.
The script uses a merge_trap instead of addtrap command.
Does any one know if the merge trap is an old netview command and if so can
I replace the merge_trap with addtrap in the txt file and run it again,or
will this destroy my trapd.conf?
Appreciate any help out there.
