I had the same problem on the NT side.  I had actually
had an object that was in the database and not in any
of the maps; it was actually a network segment.  I
tried a very unorthodox way, I don't think it's
Netview approved, but it did work for me.

I created an object with the identical object name,
and delete the object immediately afterward.  Ran
ovmapcount -u  and ovtopofix -a.

I can't guarantee this works for you, but could be a
last resort.
