There is no good way to compress the value_info.ovf file today but there soon
will be.
Independent of your problem, one of my colleagues was working on nvTurboDatabase
and found errors in it which prevented it from doing just that -- compressing
value_info.ovf every time it is run.
So I would call Support and tell them you want the e-fix to APAR IY11722 as soon
as it is ready (it isn't yet).
Also, for what it is worth, in a future release, code will be added to ovwdb to
make it more efficient at utilizing the overflow file to help prevent the kind
of growth and fragmentation you are seeing. That is APAR IY11724.
