I had the same problem.  Here's a procedure that worked for me:

This is only for v6.01

1) stop daemons
2) backup database
3) ovwdbdmap -d objectID   (the -d is an undocumented option)
4) start daemons
5) stop netmon
6) ovtopofix -A
7) start netmon
8) add object to map, may remain in unknown state, give it lots of time.

You can use ovwdbdmap even if you're using nvTurboDatabase.
