DO NOT build the box this way. You might copy the OS that way, but
then completely remove the Tivoli stuff. It cannot handle a hostname
change. The instructions are not correct or complete enough to allow
you to apply maintenance later on. After changing the address and name,
install of the Tivoli Framework and Netview. If you want to incorporate
your
customizations from the production machine, you can make the migration
backup in that machine, copy it to the second system, and install Netview
in its presence. This is covered in the release note. You would use the
Update fileset on V6, and it is smart enough to figure out that it is a new
install. A note: I would remove the database directories from the migration
filesystem during the install, and bring it over with as a tar file after
the fact,
with a reset_ci to handle name changes within the Netview database.

Subject: [NV-L] Standby NetView Server

Hi All

We are currently building a standby NetView server to be used in case of
the live NetView server becoming unavailable. To build the server, we are
restoring a mksysb and savevg and then following the documented procedures
for updating the IP address and hostname of the machine. Once we have built
this server, we obviously wish to keep its NetView database up-to-date.

Instead of applying every update on both machines (e.g. adding a location
or discovering an object), is it possible to copy the relevant portions of
the NetView database from the live server to the standby server? If so, can
anyone provide me with a procedure to follow?

Cheers,

Danny Williams
