Hello all, Due to security issues, I'm being pushed to deactivate portmapper (sunrpc) daemons. NetView starts it in the /etc/netnmrc file. I have been able to start NetView with portmapper turned off (commented out of netnmrc) and as of yet haven't seen any problems. I have also heard that portmapper was only used in the old client/server days of NetView. Does NetView still use portmapper? Can it be turned off? If it does use portmapper what does it use if for? Thanks for any info you might have. David David E. Mason Network Management |
