It would probably depend more on the level of Framework you are using since
its the RIM feature of the Framework which provides the interface to any
backend RDBMS. If you are at Framework 3.6 or 3.6.1, Oracle 8.x is not
supported. Oracle 7.3.4 is the highest supported version at this Framework
level.
If you are using Framework 3.6.2, up to Oracle 8.1.5 is supported.
My guess is that the Database Guide advises of compatible versions at the
time NetView 6.0 was tested with Framework 3.6.1

I'm running Oracle 8.1.5 with NetView 6.01 on a Sun box with no problems.
I'm using Oracle for IP Topology and snmpCollect data.

Subject: [NV-L] NetView 6.0.2 Supports Oracle version ?
Hello Everyone,
Is anybody out there using NetView 6 with Oracle 8.1.x? The NV database
guide shows Oracle 7.3.1 - 7.3.4 is supported. I called support and got the
same answer.
Thanks.
