AIX 4.3 what? I have had 4.3.1 for years now. The test environment for
NetView 6.0 and 6.0.2 specifically include 4.3.1, 4.3.2, and 4.3.3 with
even more explicit maintenance applied (like AIX 4.3.3.25 for certain TCP
components). So, no, there should be no issues.

But you are having some kind of install failure, and if you get exit 255,
then what you really got was an AIX return code of -1, which means you have
a library which cannot be found by the installation process. Usually, this
is one of the Tivoli libraries, which is why the error message directs you
to source the Tivoli libraries before start.

If you can start ovwdb from the command line and get the "Opened openview"
message, which indicate a normal start, then there is something very
different about the environment you have and the environment that ovspmd is
getting, and it has something to do with the library path. I don't know
what to you if you cannot figure it out with this information, except to
call Support, and see if they can help.

Helmut,

Thanks for your input.
I followed the instructions in the APAR, unfortunately without success.
After that, I did a comlete new install of NetView 6.0 (after running the
cleanup script), it kicks out with the same error message.

I've now removed NetView 6.0 and installed NetView 5.1.3 again, it runs
without any problems.

Are there known issues with NetView 6.0 running on AIX 4.3 ?

Hoping for suggestions,

Bernard
