I'm running NV6.0.2 on AIX 4.3.3.

The snmpCollect seems to be running (unless the process restarts
itself)..... tracing isn't on, but I'll see if it comes back with anything

Sounds like snmpCollect died or was taken down. Check
/usr/OV/log/snmpCol.trace. Normally that just logs polling
errors, stops, starts, etc. You can also turn on tracing,
giving more data, either at the commandline or in the
daemon configuration.

Could be that the network or the devices were busy at
that time. Failures to collect should be in the log. SNMP
is usually lower priority and requests will be dropped.
If a device cannot be reached, the default retry time is
one hour. You can shorten that. I usually set it to 15 minutes.

Platform and code level?

Hi,

I've currently got NV to monitor 200 network devices and collecting a good
number of SNMP MIB values. That seemed to run okay for a while.

However, I've currently found out that some of the data is missing for all
devices all at the same times - i.e. for a few links they would not have
data recorded for 3-4 hours continually. This is happening quite often.

I've already checked the disk space and the Netmon ping & snmp Wait lists.
They all seem to be quite healthy.

Are there any other possible reasons that can cause this to happen with
Netview?
