Ken -
I assume you meant this to go to the list because you said "we".

The short answer is, "No, I cannot".  I cannot discuss anything on the list which is not announced.

What has been said here before is that NetView marketing has been asking for customers to open enhancement requests and detail for them precisely what they want to do with SNMP V3.  That would help them size it.

James,

Can you tell us if SNMPv3 is on the NetView roadmap or under consideration?

TIA

SNMP V3 is a superset of SNMP V2, in that the same MIB constructs are used.
What is different is in the area of security, in that you can specify different,
and encrypted, community strings, for different parts of the MIB tree.  NetView
7.1 does not support this security mechanism.  It does support the MIBS in the
same ways that it always has.  Upgrading your Cisco routers to a new IOS will
not change how NetView deals with them as long as you do not attempt to
implement any new security for SNMP.

Sorry for the dreaded re-occuring SNMPv3 question...

Does anyone know if NetView 7.1 supports SNMPv3?  The
customer site I am at plans on upgrading to this
latest version on their cisco devices.  I have read
over the 7.1 documentation and can find no references
to SNMPv3.

Thank you,
Eric
