As I see it, you have two choices. Go out to those vendors websites and
get the SNMP V1 versions of the MIBs in question. I don't know about
Nortel, but Cisco usually has them. Then you can load those and configure
snmpCollect using the GUI (xnmcollect).
Or you can edit snmpCol.conf by hand and put the MIB values you want to
collect in there .
You can use the old xnmloadmib2 and xnmbrowser2 executables, which are
still shipped with 7.1, but no longer on the menus, to load and browse
your V2 MIBs. Or you can use the new java mibloaderpanel / mibloader.sh
and mibbrowser.sh to load and browse your V2 MIBs. Either way you can
determine the MIB OID you want and then use snmpget to verify that it
gives you the data you want before you stick it into the conf file. Not
elegant but it often works

Subject: [nv-l] SNMPv2 and SNMPCollection
Hi,
We're trying to collect information about CPU and memory utilization in
CISCO routers and Nortel Switches with Netview 7.1 on AIX 4.3.3. We found
some useful mibs but they are SNMPv2. I found a Solution in CAST that says
that SNMPv2 is not supported by SNMPCollection.
Is there any way to collect SNMPv2 mibs with SNMPCollect? and if not, what
mibs should we use for collecting information about CPU and memory
utilization in CISCO routers and Nortel Switches?
Best Regards,
Galia Lotan
