By default, if you enable the offload of polling from netmon to MLMs,
each MLM will monitor its own subnet. This is a holdover from the day
when MLM did systems management as part of the Systems Monitor/6000
product. It won't discover nodes beyond the subnet. However, you can
take nodes discovered by Netview and assign them to an MLM for
status polling. You do that by changing the definition of the Smartsets
that are created for each MLM's domain, using the Smartset Editor
under Tools. Each MLM can handle boatloads of nodes, as long as
it can ping them. The change in definition is automatically pushed
out to the MLMs at the next configuration check. A stop/start of
netmon will hurry that along.
