James,
I'm sorry for not clearly stating my question. Maybe it is a dumb question.
The users like the Administer/Telnet/xterm or Administer/Telnet/aixterm menu
option on the native X-Windows console or map. It provides an easy way to
quickly telnet to the device. Right click on the object - choose
Administer - Telnet - xterm session.

I think Alfred Reibenschuh may have been working on a java telnet
application at one time.

Or is there a way to add custom applications to the Web Console as I have
with the X-Windows console?

Thanks,

I am not certain that I understand.

You are expecting the NetView Web Console to provide a you with a telnet
session to another box? Why would you expect such a thing?
On UNIX, telnet is provided by the operating system, so if they are now
using a UNIX box and you want them to use the web client, and they need a
telnet session to somewhere else, why would they not just open a new
command window and telnet from there? If you are on a Windows box, then
why would you not use the Windows telnet facilty? Is it because they
don't like it? You can get others off the web, can't you? We have used
freeware called PuTTy here. Wnat a copy? It runs on NT.

What kind of box are you using that needs this telnet capability?

Hello Everyone.
NV 7.1.2 on AIX 4.3.3.

I'd like to convince my users to switch from the good old native X-Windows
console to the new Web Console. I want to conserve memory usage. The only
drawback I can see is that there is no easy means to telnet to a marginal
or
working network node. I haven't seen any updates regarding the telnet via
the Web Console. Are there any updates? Is telnet planned for 7.1.3 Web
Console?

Thanks in advance.
