"When we use acknowledge on node1 and all symbols go green it suggests ipmap is using OVwSetStatusOnObject which causes all symbols for the object to go to the same status." -- While I am no expert on the inner workings of the Netview code, my gut feel tells me it uses SetStatusOnSymbol and references the SymbolStatusSource for what action to take next, i.e. set status on Object.
