Mike,
perhaps you could try poll this device with SNMP instead of ICMP. To do this
you put an entry in your seed file prefixed with a dollar ($) sign. This
tells netmon to have a look at the MIB variables ifAdminStatus and ifOperStatus
instead of just pinging the interface. It then compares the two values and
issue an alarm in case they are different.
With that you can also monitor interfaces that have no IP addres.
