You most likely have the following configuration on your router

!
! Host to send traps to
!
snmp-server host your_trap_processing_host

!
! Send SNMP traps, notice linkdown and linkup
! This can sometimes depending on the IOS version look like this
!
! snmp-server enable traps snmp
!
snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup coldstart
warmstart

 The solution is to

1. Disable sending SNMP traps. This will stop all authentication, linkdown,
linkup, coldstart and warmstart traps

      no snmp-server enable traps snmp

2. Disable a particular interface from sending traps

      interface replace_with_your_interface
       no snmp trap link-status

Hello,

We are having NetView 6.0.2 on AIX 4.3.3

>From one cisco router, we are continuously receiving the following kind of
traps saying 'PPP LCP closed" :-

1059222261 11 Sat Jul 26 18:54:21 2003 CORT3 A Cisco Agent Interface Down
(linkDown Trap) on interface: Serial3/1:0 locIfReason: PPP LCP Closed

1059222279 11 Sat Jul 26 18:54:39 2003 CORT3 A Cisco Agent Interface Up
(linkUp Trap) on interface: Serial3/2:0 locIfReason: PPP LCP Open

What could be the problem with the router or its configuration? Where
should I look into?

Regards,
Anupam Kr Anand
