I have AIX 5.1 ML03 and though I have a /usr/sbin/hostmibd there are no
man pages nor an entry in docsearch. Typing the command provides a
brief usage statement - but not much! Suggests it may be based on
DPI?? I don't seem to have aixmibd on my system. Could you offer more
info on these?
Also, does the new snmpmibd work if you don't have the SNMP V3 version
of the agent with AIX 5.2 - NetView won't support the V3 agent.

Dpid2 makes no sense for NetView. As far as I know it is used e.g. by TSM
to manage the trap creation and sending.
But hostmibd can be used by your own registered applications to get and
display informations of the mib-2.host tree.
Up to these specific AIX levels it was only possible to get system
informations either via an installed trapgend or via a SIA.
But now AIX provides its own subagents to provide system informations. So
you would be able to get e.g. the CPU usages per CPU.
Trpgend provides only the average usage over all CPUs.
Read the manual pages for hostmibd for more informations.
In case of the CPU Usage mib make sure that you have the fix for IY49197 is
installed.
There is also a second new subagent available : aixmibd (AIX Enterprise
Specific MIB).
If the snmpd is running in V3 mode then also snmpmibd is started and
running. For a description of the specific MIB variables managed by
snmpmibd
please see also the man-pages.
