If ovwls shows you only "default", then you can try specifying it with "- - mapname" on the command, otherwise call Support James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group
And it does. I only have one map, and its called "default". Voila! I just tried manage/unmanage and it failed without a R/W map up even though netviewd is running. See below: root [s00cXXX/usr/scripts]# nvmaputil.sh --manage-node sxa-lisbon-px-xxa51 There is no read/write map opened whose map name is "default". root [s00cXXX/usr/scripts]# ps -ef |grep netviewd root 17288 27618 2 15:07:23 pts/0 0:00 grep netviewd root 23616 34202 0 18:06:20 - 1:57 /usr/OV/bin/netviewd -----Original Message----- From: owner-nv-l@lists.us.ibm.com [mailto:owner-nv-l@lists.us.ibm.com] On Behalf Of Bursik, Scott {PBSG} Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2004 2:49 PM To: 'nv-l@lists.us.ibm.com' Subject: RE: [nv-l] nvmaputil / Web Device Mgmt I have not found this to be the case. I just opened a RO map and have netviewd running and nvmaputil works fine. There is no RW map open by a user. I was able to unmamage a node and verify it with a ovobjprint -s and then manage it again. If a RO map is opened, nvmaputil will always fail, even if netviewd is also running with a RW map. It looks like nvmaputil will use the ovw (the opened map) instead of netviewd whenever ovw is running. And of course the update will not happen if the map used by nvmaputil is in RO mode. 2- I believe the web device management is when you define an URL for the management of a device (see the W option in oid_to_type) Salutations, / Regards, Francois Le Hir Network Projects & Consulting Services IBM Global Services Phone: (514) 205 6695 "Qureshi, Fawad" <Fawad.Qureshi@ss a.gov> To Sent by: "'nv-l@lists.us.ibm.com'" owner-nv-l@lists. <nv-l@lists.us.ibm.com> us.ibm.com cc Subject 02/05/2004 01:56 [nv-l] nvmaputil / Web Device Mgmt PM Please respond to nv-l NV 7.1.3 / AIX 5.1 Couple of questions: 1. Nvmaputil.sh will fail if map is not up in R/W mode, even with netviewd running. I was told it would work if netviewd was running. I have tried netviewd in both ro and rw mode. 2. I posted this before but got no response. Does anyone know what Web Device Mgmt option under Tools is for? I find no doc on this feature. Issue is this: We have several devices that can be configured via web browser; it's basically a SNMP SET operation. I have all the MIBs loaded and can do individual SETs on individual devices via the MIB Browser. I was hoping there was a way to invoke an app from Netview (web console) that can display this type of devices and do collective SETs on them. Thanks. Cheers Fawad Qureshi |
