Thread-topic: [nv-l] web console

I don’t know what your set up is, but if it is similar to ours then here is a possibility for the connection lost issue (# 3). In our setup I am the only person who runs the native console and everyone else runs the web console. Every time the map on the native console is started or exited the web console users will see the error that you described.

For number 2 have you tried running the maintenance commands /usr/OV/bin/mapcount –a, /usr/OV/bin/ovstop netmon, /usr/OV/bin/ovtopofix –a? These are the aix commands. I don’t know if the windows commands are in the same locations or not. Just a guess, but maybe something is corrupted in your database.

For question number 3 regarding a lost connection, here is a possibility.  In our lab setup, we pull cables all the time to simulate network outages.  This will cause the message to be displayed stating that the connection to the web server has been lost.  So when the routed path between the web console machine and the NetView server machine is down, then the actual connection from the web console to the web server is lost, resulting in the message.

No takers for this question?

I will settle for an answer to question 2 only. This one's bugging the heck out of me.

Come on you web console gurus ...

Thanks all.

Cheers

[nv-l] web console

NV 7.1.3 / AIX 5.1

1. Top level icons (SmartSet / IP Internet / ManagerSubmap) all disappear after running ok for about four hours.
2. I was unable to find any doc that explains the different map options that are available to choose from while opening a map through web console client. I usually get four or five options for map "default" to open, 2 or 3 in RO and 1 or 2 with RW - all on different ports. We only have one map - "default".
3. Sometime the map disappears with message displayed saying connection to web server lost. Why does that happen? How to stop it from happening?

Cheers
